    Description

Set of 3 Republic of China (ROC, Nationalist Government) Banknotes issued by the Central Bank of China in 1940, 1941, and 1944.
Bills printed and circulated by the nationalist government during the Japanese invasion of eastern China.  At this time, the nationalist government was fighting the Japanese through a tentative truce with Chinese communist forces.  Soon after these bills were issued, they lost value as the Communist forces beat out the nationalist government post-1945 and assumed control of the mainland in 1949 with the ROC's retreat to Taiwan.  These bills were witness to one of the most tumultuous periods of Chinese modern history.
    Condition
: Well-circulated bills with folded corners and occasional folds in the body of the note.  Some small pieces of border have been eaten away by the years.  These are relatively large denominations (esp. the 100 yuan bill) so they likely saw quite a bit of use during the few years they were valid.
