MEDALLIC ART COMPANY'S CATSKILL AQUADUCT MEDAL TRIBUT & HEADQUARTERS DEDICATION

Description

This is an interesting specimen because, while it is struck and issued by the Medallic Art Company, its Obverse design is almost completely borrowed from the medal listed in Hibler & Kappen's So-Called Dollars as the Catskill Aqueduct medal # 667. It is unsurprising that the leader of the company at the time chose this image to celebrate the dedication of MACO's new facility with this entirely captivating medallic image portrayal.  It is almost a slam dunk that this doppelganger will appear in any updated So-Called Dollars reference book.
Incidentally, the Catskill Aqauduct is still considered one of the greatest engineering projects of all time.  Crazy, huh?, because few of the 10 million plus people in New York city's metropolitan area think about their drinking water supply....EXACTLY makes the point.
This medal is edgemarked #144....some spotting on reverse per pictures.
