    Description

HK-894D, one of the series of First World War era "Good Luck" tokens.  "In Memory of my Army Life/On the Mexican Border".  A reference to the 1916 campaign against Pancho Villa and subsequent stationing of American troops along the border during the period of the Mexican Revolution of the early 20th Century.  Struck in Brass alloy and Gilt, NGC only lists this token in that combination.  However, based upon others in the series I suspect that examples struck in Copper and possibly Silvered-Brass are likely to exist (none currently certified - if you have one, feel free to let me know as I am interested).
Very Scarce, only three currently certified at NGC.  Almost Uncirculated with little wear,
significant traces of gilt surface remains particularly on the Reverse.
The reddish Obverse color is due to environmental exposure of the underlying Brass surface.
In my experience certifying these, likely to come back as a Net AU grade, possibly noted as Environmental Damage - I disagree with NGC on this as this is effectively toning, however what I think apparently does not matter.  No physical damage per se, which is scarcer still for one of these, almost all of which were heavily used as pocket pieces.
