    Description

    1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire Souvenir.  No Clock in Tower die, the same used as for HK-341.  However the composition appears to be different.  HK-341 is listed as Brass, which should actually be shown as "Gilt" (plated). Comparing the piece listed here to a known HK-341 I have, this shows less wear however NO apparent sign of any Gilt (plating).  It is possible that any plating applied has been removed by chemical action; many of the surviving pieces of HK-340 through 343 in all varieties show environmental issues.  However the base metal has a "browner" shade to it less like typical Brass, and somewhere in between Brass and Copper. A possible "off metal" piece, however with this series being as confused as it is, I will simply offer it for what it appears to be - you can make up your own mind about the matter.  I am
