    Description

HK-341, souvenir medallion struck to commemorate the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire. Dies similar to HK-340/340A, but struck in brass with a medal alignment. This HK is actually more difficult to find than the Silver-plated version in my experience, although the number of certified pieces is similar. This uses a different die than HK-340A, as the clock tower on the Obverse has no clock face. This is an honest, lightly worn pocket piece, obviously a "touch stone" of the tragedy. While having achieved some "circulation" there is no damage or signs of burial - a huge percentage of all the related HK's from this event seem to have been ground recovered, which may help explain the paucity of certified copies.
