Description
HK-331A, U. S. Government Building Dollar, a souvenir of the 1905 Lewis & Clark Exposition in Portland, Oregon. The variety with "and" between Lewis/Clark instead of an ampersand ("&"), the change necessitated by a broken die that need to be replaced. Jeff Shevlin's new text on SCD of the West Coast Expositions catalogues this as SH 14-4 (36.5mm). Choice Uncirculated, certified NGC MS-63DPL. One of only two in the grade with a DPL designation, with no finer DMPL's certified; only one MS-64 better for the HK number, with any surface (when last checked). That other sole 63DPL sold in 2018 at 9, which I thought was cheap considering (Shevlin valued at 5 MS-60, 0 MS-63, with typical surfaces). While a relatively common Type here in Oregon, naturally as I am located only about 80 miles from where the Expo has held, nice problem free Uncs are noticeably scarce as almost all went directly into a pocket, damaging the fragile gilt surface.I am happy to combine shipping for multiple items – please use the ebay Shopping Cart feature and ASK FOR AN INVOICE before payment.
