    Description

    HK-249, SH 7-27, Electric Tower Dollar, a souvenir of the 1894 California Midwinter Exposition in San Francisco, CA.  NGC MS-63PL
    without hole
    , very scarce as such.  Rated R-6 in Shevlin's book on West Coast Expos, and all of that.  Unfortunately, NGC does not discriminate between holed/unholed in the Census listing so these remain underrated.  The vast majority of specimens seen are pierced, apparently for suspension on a badge or ribbon. I have never seen a piece so mounted, so it may be that it was the intention to do so, but pieces were released as-is.  As I am also listing an HK-249 in MS-63PL with hole, an opportunity to get both varieties as a grade matched pair.
