    Description

A superb and rare photo of the
    Harley-Davidson WLDR Class C racer
    , which was ridden to
    victory
    in the
    Milwaukee Mile
    race by
    Ben Campanale
    in
    1938
. The photograph was taken just after that race!
    Ben Campanale
worked as a motorcycle stunt rider before he turned to racing. He wrote history when he won the 1938 Daytona 200 with a stock Harley Davidson. HD was mightily impressed, as they gave him a factory ride in
    1939. A
good decision, as Campanale won again.
Campanale returned to racing after the war won several
    AMA
    Pacific
    Coast
    titles. He also moved to
    California
and opened a Harley-Davidson dealership in
    Pomona
. One of his most famous regular customers was Clark Gable.
This is a very nice and very rare
    non period
photo that reflects a wonderful era of Harley ‘s motorcycle history in a wonderful way. This is your rare chance to own this photo, therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 8" x 12" (ca. 20 x
    30 cm
). It makes it perfectly suitable for framing!
