An intricate and appealing design, struck in a what was, at the time, an exciting and intriguing new medium, aluminum. HK-167 is the smaller version of the medallic design depicting a "bird's eye view" of the Chicago Expo on the obverse, and Columbus's ship, the Santa Maria, on the reverse. Despite deeply mirrored fields over both sides, NGC somehow missed the PL designation this coin clearly deserves. Crusty original surfaces with just a few wispy strike-thru marks and scattered hairlines accounting for the MS64 grade. There are just two at this grade level, with none finer. If this were resubmitted for PL or DPL, it would be the single finest, upon completion.
