    Description

1876 U.S. Declaration of Independence Medal
    HK-74, Backer-390D, 43mm WM, R.5
    VF25
Struck for the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition. An intricate design, copied from the famous John Trumbull painting. A rare issue today, and the present example was well-loved by someone in its day. It was clearly carried as a pocket piece for many years, as the wear and numerous contact marks are commensurate with constant handling.
