    Description

So-called dollar HK-26, United States Centennial Exposition 1876. The piece is made from white metal, and measures approximately 38 mm diameter. One side shows the a large Liberty Bell in the center with "1776" in the field to the left, and "1876" in the field to the right. Around the border is "PROCLAIM LIBERTY THROUGHOUT THE LAND UNTO ALL THE INHABITANTS THEREOF". The reverse shows"INDEPENDENCE HALL" in the center with "1776" to the left of the building and "1876" to the right. Around the top border above the building it shows the building name, and below it is the details "Commenced 1729, Finished 1734".The medal is still bright silvery white in color, and the surfaces would have been proof-like in finish. The open areas in the fields on both sides show hairlines and  general light handling marks from over the years. Still an attractive and interesting piece nearly 145 years later. The piece has a ring at the top for attaching to a ribbon.
